The Yellow Bittern

In marking the passing of Seamus Heaney we would like to offer you this reading of his marvelous translation of the old Irish poem "An Bunnán Buí (The Yellow Bittern)". Also for your listening is Colcannon's recording of the song; our version gives the first verse in the original Irish and then the verses of Thomas MacDonagh's 1913 translation.

Oh Mick, that was just grand. I'll raise a glass to each of ye, and one more to the little bird.
